The management of Kano State Polytechnic has begun a process of affiliating with Bayero University, Kano, to introduce B. Tech programmes that could lead to the award of Bachelor degrees in Automobile Technology, Building Technology, Electrical and Electronics, Metal  Work Tech, Wood Work Tech, and Drafting Technology.

The request was made by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Kabir Bello Dungurawa during a courtesy visit to the University on 4th March, 2021.

According to Dr. Dungurawa, they were at the University to congratulate the newly elected Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, on his election as the 11th Vice Chancellor of the University, as well as to condole with the management of the BUK over the death of its eminent scholars.

Dr. Kabir Bello also intimated the BUK management that within his 122 days in office a lot of achievements were recorded, and these include complete taking over the affairs of Kano State Institute for Information Technology, Kura, and securing the 65 hectares of land at Badume town, Bichi Local Government allocated to KSP by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje by placing beacons and sign posts.

“As it implies in my 7th Agenda, we are here to further seek for an affiliation to run B. Tech. programmes that would lead to the award of Bachelor degrees in Automobile  Technology, Building Technology, Electrical and Electronics, Metal  Work Tech, Wood Work Tech, and Drafting Technology”, the Rector appealed.

He rounded up by reiterating that all the successes so far recorded by his administration were due to the support, cooperation and understanding he has been receiving from his management team, right from the day he assumed duty.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, expressed appreciation over the visit stating that he knows Dr. Kabir Bello Dungurawa as a hardworking person who managed the department of education of the University very well before appointed as the Rector of the Polytechnic. Consequently he has no doubt Kano Poly would prosper during his tenure. Prof. Sagir urged the KSP management to give the Rector all the required support and cooperation to achieve the desired successes.

Regarding the plot of land given to the Polytechnic by the State government, the VC commended the efforts of the Rector in placing beacons and sign posts but he strongly advised the KSP management to try as much as possible to take the ownership of the land. He further assured the Polytechnic that Bayero University, Kano is ready and willing to assist with regards to the affiliation to mount B. Tech. “Our relationship will continue, from now on, we will give you all the necessary support you deserve”, Prof. Sagir affirmed.

In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Rector, Dr. Muhammad Umar Kibiya, on behalf of the management, staff and students of the Polytechnic thanked the VC and his management team for the warm reception accorded to them and for their concern on affiliation request.
